The former president also took several shots at rival Ron DeSantis, referring to him as “DeSanctimonious,” as he has previously. Trump explained that in the past he had saved DeSantis, who was politically “dead,” by endorsing him (presumably as governor of Florida), thereby enabling DeSantis to win. Trump described realizing later that DeSantis was running for president and referred to the governor as a “son of a b****.”
“I’m not a big fan of his, and he’s highly overrated,” said Trump.
The former president concluded his speech by telling his supporters that if he does not win in 2024, he foresees the U.S. will be a “country no more.” This election is the “last chance” to make America great again, Trump said. Otherwise, “our country is doomed.”
