“I was the most nominated gospel artist ever…I got nominated most times in one term,” Bowe said. “I was the first one to ever do that.” Bowe further mentioned that his single “Joyful” reached No. 1 on the charts, and he was doing his own arena tour.

“I was the first artist to go on their first arena tour without the group, and so we were really having like this these little feuds,” Bowe said, something he said he has “never talked about.” Bowe said his time finally came to an end after he faked being sick to get out of going on tour with Maverick City Music.

“We suddenly had all these little feuds at the time, and I was kind of in and out. And this last tour that they went on, I just called in after I got off my 14-country tour, and I was like, ‘Man, I’m sick. Like I can’t do it,’” Bowe explained. “I did feel bad, like I was a little sick, but at the same time, I was just really tired of being a part of a group.”

“I think what happened between me and them at the time with me posting that video of me dancing to Bad Bunny or the picture of myself or whatever the case may be, I feel like it was just their leeway to just go ahead and pause the relationship with me,” Bowe said.

“But they offered me a record deal two weeks later,” Bowe shared. “But nobody knows that. It’s in my email.”

Bowe said that while he hopes Maverick City Music continues to succeed, getting released from the worship collective was one of the darkest times of his life. Bowe alleged that the group had “played” him.

Bowe Says ‘Inappropriate’ Photo Wasn’t ‘Sexual’ Despite Full Frontal Nudity

The photo Bowe said he “accidentally” posted, which he described as “inappropriate” but “not sexual,” appears to be a photo that was posted on his Instagram stories and then promptly deleted. Before the photo could be removed, some of Bowe’s followers saw it, one of whom saved it and sent it to Protestia, a website that describes itself as “a polemical news site that dedicates itself to providing Christian news and discernment in an age of widespread censorship.”

In the photo sent to Protestia, Bowe can be seen taking a selfie in front of a bathroom mirror, wearing only a tank top, which is pulled up over his chest.

In a statement to ChurchLeaders, TRUE Music, the record label of which Bowe is CEO, said, “For clarification, Dante had no intention of sharing the photo. This accidental post was unrelated to Dante’s departure from Maverick City Music. Dante is dedicated to using his platform to spread hope, faith, and love in the world.”

Despite his “inappropriate” photo, Bowe was recently nominated for four Dove Awards, including Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year.

Bowe released a new self-titled album earlier this year and recently came under fire after releasing his video for his song, “Wind Me Up,” as the video features women in bikinis twerking.
