‘You Are Called by Grace,’ Says ‘Days of Our Lives’ Actor Jen Lilley

“The truth of the matter is that from a human perspective, Theresa’s kind of a horrible person,” said Lilley. “But from a God perspective, she’s exactly who Christ came and died for,” Lilley added, quoting Romans 5 and Ephesians 3:18-19. She does not believe that she is “glamorizing evil,” as Metaxas suggested some might think, but said she wants to tell “the Theresas of the world…you are so loved and you are not unredeemable.”

In a 2020 interview with Movieguide, Lilley elaborated on what she sees as her purpose in her role. When God spoke to her, he showed her, “Somebody has to play that role, and I’d rather it be a Christian because you can play the unspoken moments when the guy leaves the room,” he said. “You play the emptiness the girls actually feel where they’ve sold themselves short of their value. Those are the exact conditions of humanity that I sent my son to die for.”

Lilley concluded her Sept. 19 Instagram post by reminding her fans once again of the depth of God’s love. “And to the best fans a girl could ask or hope for,” she said, “remember there is no pit so deep you could ever find yourself in where God’s love cannot find you still. You are never beyond redemption. You are called by grace and marked with love. Thank you for supporting me on this decade long journey.”
