The No. 2 cause of death in people from ages 10 to 16 is suicide, said Roberts, who shared that he lives in Oklahoma City and that at the time of recording his comments, there had been three teen suicides within the past two weeks. That tragedy is indicative of a much wider problem.

“Encouraging more conversations surrounding mental health is important, for everybody, but especially for teenagers as they’re just trying to figure out their own identity and purpose and where they fit in this world,” Roberts said.
