Zulya, Wife of Hans Schmidt, Thanks God and Continues To Request Prayer
Soon after the shooting, Pastor Gary Marsh of Victory Chapel First Phoenix wanted to update the church on Hans’ condition and called for all to continue praying.
“I know there’s probably folks that are wondering how brother Hans is doing, and unfortunately at this point in time, we don’t have a lot of victory reports to bring on his behalf,” said Marsh. “He’s struggling, he’s hurting, he’s in a serious, serious situation. We’re believing God for a miracle on his behalf. So keep praying for Hans Schmidt, and let’s keep believing.”
While he wasn’t able to communicate for weeks after the shooting, Hans has continued to make progress in talking, walking, and now even playing drums at church.
Zulya continues to be grateful that Hans survived the attack and was able to celebrate recent holidays with her and their two kids. Hans enjoyed a birthday in December, and on Jan. 5, the couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary.
“Happy four year anniversary! ❤️,” Zulya wrote. “Life may look a little different now, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. You are my best friend. I love you so much Schmidty! Cheers to many more.♥️😘”
Zulya has updated friends, family, and those praying with each step of progress since the attack. “God is moving. He has been with us every step of the way,” she posted in December. “We are still believing and contending for a supernatural recovery. The fact he is here is a miracle in itself. Hans is fighting and working really hard every day. Your prayers are not in vain. God is working behind the scenes and is using all of this for His glory.”
While the Schmidt family continues to rejoice over Hans’ life and recovery, Hans still has a long way to go.
More than $77,000 has been raised via GoFundMe for the Schmidts and Hans’ medical expenses. Their home church has also set up an account to help raise money for the family’s immediate needs.
