Broome said that Hope looked him in the face and said, “You’re not defined by the worst thing you’ve ever done, and you’re not defined by the greatest thing you’ll ever do.”
“You don’t get to say what you’re defined as,” she added. “What is true is there’s a creator existing outside of time, space, and matter. And he created you and I. He has the final say.”
“She confronted the very thing in which I created my identity,” Broome said. “Culture propagates lies that [interfere] with the real and true Jesus.”
So in his book, Broome sets out to utilize his testimony in a unique way to speak into today’s culture. Broome wants readers to know that “God met me in my mess, and he didn’t leave me there. He changed me because I accepted his love.”
“To accept his love is to die to yourself because Jesus died for you, and a reasonable response is for you to die for him,” Broome said.

Broome encouraged others that no matter what they’ve gone through, whether it was their fault or not, there is only one person who heals, and his name is Jesus.
“And if you are healed from a wound, then you do have a scar that tells a story—and that story points to the only one that can heal,” Broome said.
