UConn Basketball Star Paige Bueckers: ‘I’m a Living Testimony’ of God’s Power

In November 2023, Bueckers told ESPN, “Part of me thinks it was God calling me to use this [injury]. I feel like I’m just gonna have a great story to tell by the end of it.” She also credited God with growing her faith during her recovery and helping her view the setback “not as an obstacle but just a wave of adversity—just something that I can get through.” Although God didn’t promise an obstacle-free life, Bueckers added, “He did promise that he would be there every step of the way.”

Bueckers graduated from high school in Minnesota in 2020, just as social justice protests broke out across America. The athlete works to combat racial discrimination, saying she wants to use her platform to celebrate Black women in basketball and beyond.
