The Authentic Christian Faith Behind for KING + COUNTRY

Luke and Joel Smallbone of for KING + COUNTRY began their music career in a large, musical family living in Australia. Then known as “Joel & Luke,” the duo grew up in the shadow of their sister, Rebecca St. James, a successful Christian artist.

The brothers believe Christian music offers a “peek into what heaven must be like.” Luke explained, “I don’t know anything else that can have that type of impact. No sermon, for the most part, transforms the condition of someone’s soul so quickly.”

The official soundtrack of “Unsung Hero” is a walk down memory lane for anyone who listened to Christian music back in the 90s. Songs feature top artists Michael W. Smith, Lecrae, Stryper, Lee Brice, and Rebecca St. James, along with for KING + COUNTRY.

The title single, “Unsung Hero,” was written in honor of Luke and Joel’s mom, Helen. The two artists agree in the lyrics that “Words fall short but I am sure / There’ll never be anyone like you.”

The song continues,

Strong like your father even when you are scared
When I was in trouble, you never left me there
And you love like your mother, like there’s nothing to lose
You’re an unsung hero, so I’ll sing this song for you

“God is the great designer of motherhood and of music: of family and faith. Those beautiful truths are encapsulated in our parents’ adventurous immigration journey from Australia to America,” Joel and Luke Smallbone told ChurchLeaders last year. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be bringing this ’90s music biopic to silver screens.”
