Nevertheless, the film was never far from his mind. Jenkins “kept every week praying and thinking about and imagining this moment,” and he also took notes and planned how he envisioned filming the story. “I pictured what the movie would look like, what it would feel like,” he said.
A few years ago, Jenkins checked on the rights again and was able to secure them, in part because the mother of one of the rights holders loved “The Chosen” and told her son, “You got to work with this guy.”
“This is a dream come true for me,” Jenkins said. “And I’m going to make a great movie for you.”
