Roughly a week later, Robert Morris of Gateway Church in Dallas-Fort Worth resigned in disgrace after abuse survivor Cindy Clemishire came forward to allege that he sexually abused her in the 1980s, beginning when she was just 12 years old.
Morris had previously been open about the fact that he was “involved in inappropriate sexual behavior with a young lady” in his 20s and had undergone a church discipline and restoration process.
The leadership of Gateway Church and other associates of Morris have denied knowing that he allegedly abused a child.
ChurchLeaders has reached out to Stonebriar Community Church and Tony Cammarota for comment and will update this article in the event of a response.
