Greg Laurie Prays That ‘Miraculous’ Survival Serves as ‘Turning Point’ for Donald Trump

With less than four months until the presidential election, Stakelbeck asked Laurie what the body of Christ should be doing as America heads into “uncharted waters.” Laurie used the analogy of a married couple who’s struggling with lost romance. Instead of waiting for the emotions to return, he said, “just go do the right motion.” Similarly, Jesus told the church in Ephesus, which had lost its first love, that it needed to remember, repent, and act (Revelation 2:4-5).

“Each of us needs to be doing our part as followers of Jesus Christ to let our light shine in a very dark culture,” Laurie said. “Look for opportunities to engage people in evangelistic conversations. Remember to pray for your nation. Keep your family strong and intact.”

The pastor pointed to the “courageous example” of Corey Comperatore, the firefighter, family man, and Christian who died in Saturday’s shooting. By laying down his life to protect his family, Comperatore provided “a true definition of what masculinity ought to be,” said Laurie. “Let’s follow the example of that man, and let’s seek to be men and women of God. Walk with the Lord. Let the spiritual awakening begin with us as individuals.”

Closing the interview in prayer, Laurie asked God to work in Trump’s heart and to cause a “spiritual awakening” in America. “You are the answer; you are the one that has everything we need,” Laurie prayed to God.
