More Updates From LA Wildfires
Tuesday evening, a news crew reported from Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church, portions of which were on fire. On social media, the church thanked neighbors who reportedly tried to help extinguish the flames. The church also shared Scripture online, adding, “We will rebuild. God is good.”

Ed Stetzer, dean of Talbot School of Theology at Biola University and editor-in-chief of Outreach magazine, shared this message on X Tuesday evening: “Power out for a second (extended) time today at our house. These winds are crazy, but the fires (on the other side of LA from us) are catastrophic. Due to the high winds, the folks on the news are saying that worst is still to come. Pray for our friends near these fires.”
On Wednesday morning, Jack Hibbs, senior and founding pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, posted:
Please join us in prayer for those affected by the devastating fires in California, as well as the brave first responders and firefighters working tirelessly to protect lives and homes. We pray that the Lord would calm the winds and that His presence would bring comfort to those suffering and wisdom to those on the front lines.
Hibbs also reposted words from President-elect Donald Trump that are critical of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s water-management policies. “Every single Democrat in California must go,” the pastor added, “and we will do everything we can to help them pack in 2026.”
Worship leader Sean Feucht chastised anyone who blames God for the wildfires. “To those claiming that the LA fires are a [‘judgment’] from God: We ALL deserve to be judged for our evil ways,” he wrote on Wednesday. “Every city, state & nation has turned its back on God. California doesn’t need your judgment, it needs your prayers. Millions of people who love Jesus STILL live here.”
Feucht added the words of Ephesians 2:4-5. “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions.”
In another Wednesday post, Feucht wrote, “Praying this over all my friends in LA today: When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2”
