“Our flag of this state is an absolute, abject lie,” Hibbs said, referring to the flag’s text that reads, “California Republic.”
“California has been under unmitigated Democrat, 100% power control. Democrat, super majority,” he said. “What does that mean, super majority? It means nobody can oppose their decision-making, and now you’ve got it.”
“You’ve got a situation where a catastrophe came and the billions of dollars that you and I gave was diverted to other woke, stupid Democrat projects,” Hibbs went on.
This view is “not hyperbole,” said Hibbs, who added, “I’m upset and I’m angry, and it’s the right kind of anger.”
After the wildfires began, the firefighters’ water supply ran short as the first responders tried to contain the blazes. Hibbs criticized President Joe Biden for allegedly saying the fire hydrants stopped providing water “because we need electricity.” In fact, Biden has said utilities had to cut power to stop power lines from starting more fires, resulting in the fire hydrants not pumping water. That view has itself been disputed.
Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom wasted taxpayer money with unnecessary travel and other expenses, said Hibbs, who alluded to Newsom’s recent purchase of a $9.1 million mansion with “probably your dollars.”
Bass was traveling back from Ghana when the fires began. She had said she would not travel internationally in her role as mayor, a “pledge” that “has been spectacularly broken,” reported the New York Times.
“It’s time to replace the leadership in California,” said Hibbs. “You don’t need any more examples. These fires could have been stopped.”
According to Hibbs, Newsom and other Democratic leaders such as Nancy Pelosi are responsible for failing to “strengthen the infrastructure of our water system.”
“The Democrat party not only failed the United States, it is obvious it has failed California,” he said. “They’ve had unmitigated power. They did nothing with it. But destroy us, and we are going to change—and listen, I told you before, I’m not a fan of the Republican Party either.”
Hibbs believes he has found an alternative leader in Steve Hilton, former senior policy and strategy advisor to former U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron. Hilton is also former host of “The Next Revolution” on Fox News and founder of Golden Together, a non-partisan policy organization.
“I asked last night, ‘Steve Hilton, would you run for governor?’” said Hibbs. “Because I’m behind you. I will support you.”
