7 Easy Ways to Miss a Childhood

7. Every time your child wants or needs your attention, make sure that you always have a good reason for making them wait. Kids these days need to learn respect by understanding that what you are doing in the moment is always more important than they are. You’ll give them your time as soon as you finish writing that text, or watching that show, or checking that thing off your to-do list. Our kids need to understand how busy we as adults are, and how we don’t have time for their petty childish things.

Well, let’s admit it, as parents we’ve all got some work to do, myself included. While these were meant to be a bit sarcastic (ok, a lot sarcastic), they’re also meant to be thought-provoking and perspective shaping.

None of us are trying to miss a childhood, yet why is it that many parents are succeeding at having unintentionally accomplished it? It’s so easy to miss a childhood because all you have to do is fail to be intentional. Determine today by your actions that you will give your children the priority they deserve.
