There Is No Such Thing As An Ordinary Christian

You are not ordinary! Jesus loved YOU and gave himself for YOU. Nothing can ever separate you from God’s love in Christ.

Your name is engraved on Jesus’ hands and heart

“Can a woman forget her nursing child,

that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?

Even these may forget,

yet I will not forget you.

Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;

your walls are continually before me. Isaiah 49:15-16

You are not ordinary! Your name is engraved on Jesus’ palms. He never forgets you. Never ceases to have compassion on you. Never ceases to think about you, love you and lead you.

Jesus intercedes for you day and night

Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Romans 8:34

Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25

You are not ordinary! Your name is on Jesus’ lips day and night. He never ceases to intercede for YOU before the Father. Jesus prays for YOU every day. Every moment.

God has specific purposes for you, He has created specific works for you to walk in

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

You are not ordinary! You may not know the works God has created for you to walk in; the bible doesn’t say we always know them, but God does. He has specific good works for YOU to walk in and he will make sure you do.

You are an adopted son or daughter of God

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will Ephesians 1:4-5

You are not ordinary! You are an adopted child of God. Even the angels are not children of God. Even the angels are not sons and daughters of the Creator of the universe.

You have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside you

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

You are not ordinary! You may not sense the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, but he does. The Holy Spirit doesn’t dwell in all humans, only those bought with the price of Jesus’ blood. When you walk through the grocery store, you may feel ordinary, but don’t forget, you are a temple of the Holy Spirit.

You have spiritual gifts from the Holy Spirit that others need you to use for them

For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them:…Romans 12:4-6

You are not ordinary! You have supernatural gifts from the Holy Spirit. We’re not talking about human talents, but God-given gifts! You may not know what those gifts are; don’t worry – God will show you and use you.

Other believers need you

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12

The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 1 Corinthians 12:21-22

You are not ordinary! You may not feel special, but you have gifts that others desperately need. You may feel weak, but remember, the weaker parts of the body are indispensible. You are indispensible. Others need you!

You have been created and saved to serve and glorify God!

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11

You are not ordinary! God has called you and will cause you to serve and glorify him. Even in something as “ordinary” as eating and drinking. When you go to work. When you dress those kids in the morning. When you do something as “ordinary” as setting up chairs for a church meeting, you are glorifying God. We don’t usually feel like our “ordinary” work is glorifying God. I believe you will be stunned and amazed on judgement day when God pours out his rewards upon you for those things you did that seemed so ordinary.

You are not ordinary!
