Medical Missions: How Community Health Evangelism Heals Lives and Transforms Hurting Communities

MAI envisions a world of thriving communities where people experience reconciliation of broken relationships, restoration of hope, health and dignity, and eternal life through following Jesus Christ. This is happening through the CHE strategy.

How We Work Video

The story in the book of John, chapter 5 (NIV) reads:

“Sometime later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie— the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, ‘Do you want to get well?’ ‘Sir,’ the invalid replied, ‘I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.’ Then Jesus said to him, ‘Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.’ At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.”

Jesus knew the problem this man was experiencing, but instead of immediately acting, he questioned him. For thirty-eight years the man lived as an invalid. He knew his condition and the effects of it better than anyone. He knew exactly what he needed but he did not have the resources to meet the need.

Knowledge that MAI is providing — through CHE — the interventions most needed, exactly when and where they are needed, also empowers our supporters to know that their donation is used for maximum effectiveness.  For the past three years MAI has been names one of the top 10 ministries with the highest return on investment.

At present, MAI works in 2,582 communities around the world, bringing empowerment to a population of over 2.56 million people in 75 countries.

Watch how God impacted Tassy through CHE and created a ripple effect throughout the village.
