Making Vision Clear

“And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming-it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.” Habakkuk 2:2-3 MSG

Admittedly, one mistake I have made as a leader is not clearly communicating the vision that God has given me. In fact, I would say that it has been a fatal mistake. When the vision is not clear and easily accessible things can get crazy. If people do not plainly see, know and hear the vision….they will create their own, chase their own and never follow the leader.

One of the greatest things that we can do as leaders is to clearly communicate the vision. We need to make a habit of speaking the vision every time we have the chance. We need to create a culture where the vision is central. We need to rally our people around the vision and teach them how to communicate the vision too. As leaders, we need the creativity to make the vision fun, visible, tangible, repeatable and transferable.

We need to be sure, like the verse in Habakkuk says, the vision is simple enough that even people on the run can catch the vision and carry it with them.

When the vision is clear, and people are able to catch it, then they will stick with it. Even when it seems at times that it is slow moving, or hard work, the vision does not lie! The vision will inspire, encourage, challenge and strengthen the people God has called you to lead.

As a leader, be sure you know your vision, live your vision, share your vision, teach your vision and make your vision clear!
