Make It Last

I’ll never forget the impact my youth pastor had on my life. Rodney Syler was a part time youth pastor who gave up what little free time he had to invest in a group of us who were trying to make sense of what it really meant to follow Jesus.

I know how important student ministry is. At Cross Point I can’t tell you how proud I am of the men and women who invest in our young people week in and week out.

Knowing how important it is to resource those working with students I can’t tell you how excited I was that my friend, Jeff Lovingood, wrote a new book entitled ” Make It Last: Proven Principles for Effective Student Ministry“.

Jeff is one of the most incredible student pastors I’ve ever seen in action and his methods and love for his students have stood the test of time. In his book he addresses the alarming rate at which youth pastors are leaving the ministry over burnout and disillusionment.

He tackles important issues such as:

  • Establishing a vision for youth ministry
  • Creating a culture that balances evangelism and discipleship
  • Building effective relationships with students, youth workers and volunteers

So whether student ministry is a new thing for you or you’re a veteran who needs a fresh vision this is your opportunity to learn from one of the best. I’ve got just one copy to give away so if you work with students at your church leave me your name and how long you’ve worked with students. We’ll randomly pick a winner later today.

And one more thing, you probably don’t here this enough so thanks for what you’re doing to invest in these kids. You’re making a difference!!
