Research: Religion Losing Influence

67% of Americans currently say religion is losing its influence on American life, up from 59% in July ’06, according to the Pew Research Center. 53% of the total public says this is a bad thing vs. 10% who see it as a good thing. 52% now say houses of worship should keep out of political matters vs. 43% who say they should express their views on day-to-day social and political questions.
