Satanist Event Parodies Catholics

10/25/10

KOCO in Oklahoma City reported on a satanist festival held Thursday night at the Civic Center downtown. The event’s organizer, James Hale, leader of the Chruch of the Four Crown Princes, said the event was designed as a “blasphemy ritual and a parody of a Catholic exorcism.” Hale said the festival’s goal was to alert people to the presence of satanists in Oklahoma City, saying “Christianity and Islam are the religions who believe if you are not with them, then you are going to an evil, naughty place and you’re going to suffer and you are not worth anything.” Local Christians protested the event outside, offering prayers and songs to combat the rituals occurring inside. One protester said, “[There’s] no place for Satan in Oklahoma.” One attender, who at the outset said he didn’t really agree or disagree with either side, emerged from the event with the comment, “I thought, ‘What would Jesus do?’ Like, he’d open the door and just show up, not come here and disagree an make an argument out of nothing. He didn’t criticize like these people are doing…he came and talked to him just like a real person. That’s what changed them.” OK City police managed to keep the two opposing groups from clashing throughout the evening.
