Churches Canceling Christmas in Iraq

Under threat of more violence from insurgent groups including al-Qaida, churches all over Iraq are canceling their Christmas services. As reported by The Christian Post, the same threat was made before terrorists invaded a church in Baghdad in October killing 58 people. The Christian population in Iraq has diminished to less than half of its former 1.2 million believers, but many remain strong in the faith under the persecution. “Martha,” an Iraqi mother who experienced the October attack, said, “I am reading the Bible in a different way than I ever read it before…now I can feel what Paul said and what was in his heart and emotions.” Prayer is requested for these brothers and sisters in an area of the world devoid of peace on earth.
