According to the CNN entertainment blog and The Hollywood Reporter, reality-TV producer Mark Burnett will produce a ten-hour “docudrama” based on the stories of the Bible for the History Channel in the coming year. Burnett, producer for the hit reality series Survivor and The Apprentice, got the idea for the series from his wife, Touched by an Angel star Roma Downey. History Channel president and general manager Nancy Dubuc said, “This is probably the most important book in mankind, regardless of your beliefs or religious affiliation. This series will bring the historical stories of the Bible to life for a new generation.” The series will air in 2013.
