Saddleback Loses 200,000 Pounds

A participant on the popular reality show “Biggest Loser,” Austin Andrews, will make an appearance this weekend at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California for an event focusing on and celebrating physical fitness. The Christian Post says pastor Rick Warren has headed up a year-long health and weight loss program for himself and his congregation resulting in a total of 200,000 pounds lost from the participating members. Warren himself has reportedly lost nearly 40 pounds. This weekend the church will host a Daniel Plan Fun Walk & Run to mark the halfway point of the program, and Andrews, whose father is a local pastor, says he’s excited about “sharing his story with believers and non-believers alike…I want to ignite change and help give people the hope that change is possible.” Three high-profile physicians are helping Saddleback coordinate the program, including cardiac surgeon and TV host Dr. Mehmet Oz. Saddleback director of the Daniel Plan Dee Eastman said she hopes “the community feels welcome at the Saddleback Fun Walk and Run, and that people come to know that our church addresses their real needs.”
