Virginia Tech Locked Down After Shooting

Virginia Tech University is on lockdown after the shooting deaths of a police officer and another individual on campus earlier today. ABC World News reported that the suspect is still at large, and students are being told to stay indoors. Virginia Tech spokesperson Mark Owczarski said the police officer was shot and killed during a traffic stop in a campus parking lot, after which the gunman fled on foot across campus, shooting and killing another person whose identity reports did not give. Owczarski also said police, FBI, and officers with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are currently searching “absolutely everywhere” for the gunman, who has been described as a white male wearing gray sweatpants, a gray hat with a neon green brim, a maroon hoodie and a backpack.

In 2007, Virginia Tech was the site of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history when Sueng-Hui Cho killed 33 students, faculty members, and himself.
