According to the CNN Belief Blog, Alaska Airlines will discontinue the distribution of cards with Bible verses printed on them, a tradition that began in the 1970s. The cards were distributed with meal services and were originally designed to differentiate the service given on Alaska from other airlines. But airline officials now say they receive more complaints about the cards than compliments, and they now need to recognize and honor the varying religious backgrounds of their passengers and employees. Airline spokesperson Bobbie Egan said the cards will officially disappear as of February 1.
