Pro-life film October Baby earned approximately $1.7 million in its opening weekend showing on 390 screens, bringing it into the top 10 films of the weekend box-office, according to Box Office Mojo. The film was competing against the opening of the film version of the best-selling young adult novel, The Hunger Games. October Baby was distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films and was released nationwide March 23.
The film follows Hannah, an abortion survivor on a journey to find her birth mother. It stars John Schneider, Jasmine Guy, newcomer Rachel Hendrix as Hannah, and American Idol finalist Chris Sligh. The producers of the film plan to give ten percent of their profits from the film to the Every Life is Beautiful Fund in support of women with crisis pregnancies, adoption agencies and orphan care.
