Perry Noble Takes Two-Month Sabbatical

According to The Christian Post, pastor of NewSpring Church in South Carolina Perry Noble has announced that he will take a two-month leave of absence from the pulpit of his 16,000-attendee megachurch. He has assured his congregation the decision to take a sabbatical was not made because of problems within his marriage or church but rather a need to “set himself and his church up for long-term success.”

“Your pastor is not going anywhere,” he said in his announcement. “In order for me to lead this church well for the next 20 years, there’s got to be some changes in me. I noticed the closer you get to Jesus, he just peels back another layer on your life of something that you’ve got to work on.”

The church will fill the pulpit with other staff pastors and pre-recorded video sessions of Noble until he returns on July 29. The congregation expressed its support.
