Facebook Mentioned in a Third of UK Divorces

As reported by The Huffington Post, results of a survey by Divorce-Online showed one-third of divorce petitions in the United Kingdom contained the word “Facebook.” This is an increase from the 20 percent result from last year’s similar survey.

The most common reasons Facebook was mentioned included “inappropriate messages to members of the opposite sex,” “separated couples posting nasty comments about each other,” and “Facebook friends reporting spouse’s behavior.” A Divorce-Online spokesperson commented, “If someone wants to have an affair or flirt with the opposite sex then [Facebook is] the easiest place to do it.”
