Authentic Replica of Noah's Ark Opens to the Public

Dutch millionaire Johan Huibers of the Netherlands has designed and constructed a life-sized model of Noah’s Ark which is now open to the public. According to The Christian Post and The Huffington Post, the ark was made as close to the biblical description as possible, with the exception of a steel frame and being made of Swedish pine instead of “gopher wood.” It measures 450 feet long (approximately 300 cubits) and took four years to build. It also contains life-size plastic animals.

Ark manager Deborah Venema-Huibers told SkyNews that they were hoping to bring the ark to London for the Olympics, but fire department concerns prevented it. Interestingly, some tourists have asked about booking space on the ark in the light of the coming end of the Mayan calendar in December of this year. But Huibers has emphasized that the boat is a museum, not a “rescue boat.”

This is the second ark replica Huibers has created; the first was only half-sized. Huibers has stated the reason for the construction of the ark was to point people to God and the Bible.
