Is Your Church Afraid to Talk About Money?

I’m not afraid to talk about money.

I’m not afraid to ask people to give to the church either. In fact, I just preached two sermons in the last month about money. To some pastors, that’s like saying I punched myself in the face twice in the last month.

Money does funny things to people. Like making them super paranoid.

Don’t worry friends, unlike my Nigerian brother that e-mailed you last week about a fortune you just inherited because you’re an African prince (how did you not know this?), I’m not going to ask you for any money, so you can chillax and loosen the iron grip on your wallet.

Don’t Miss

I get it. People don’t like talking about money, especially at church. My guess is you probably don’t like reading about it on a blog either.

The good news is Jesus had a lot to say about our dough, which makes me wonder just how uncomfortable it felt every time Jesus brought up money.

I wonder how many times the disciples were like…

“Seriously Jesus, do you really have to talk about money AGAIN? We get it already. Can’t you see how awkward it is talking about money on the day I brought my friend for the first time?”

(Isn’t it funny how that always happens?)
