What Is Your Primary Battlefield?

MOTIVATION: TO POSSESS MORE THAN OTHERS

Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” (Matthew 4:8-9)

Money and power can ruin people because it magnifies their opportunities to be more of what they already are. Money (and all that it can buy) is not the poison, but the love of money. If you are deceived into thinking that the more you have, the more important you are, then you will have a hard time letting God rule in your life. Your power comes from God. Your skills, your bank account, your relationships come from God. Fall down and worship Him, no other.

Jesus wasn’t deceived.

Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”  Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. (Matthew 4: 10-11)

Remember, don’t think that you can walk around with a impure heart, put in a couple of hours of worship or community service, know the right people, and win God’s approval. He wants us to not be deceived, to focus on the primary fight: a pure and obedient heart.

So take some time to examine your motivations. Why are you doing what you do?
