Is It OK to Vote for a Mormon?

Vote, Don’t Hide

Christians must always prayerfully choose from available electoral options. Who appears most likely to respect rather than abridge Christian freedoms in our nation? Who appears most likely to take stances that honor biblical convictions? American politics is a rough and tumble sport, downright ugly at times. We can either hide with disgust in reclusive enclaves, washing our hands of responsibility for voice and vote in the direction of our nation, or we can prayerfully and wisely vote for (but not endorse the religious beliefs of) candidates whom we determine will be either supportive of or at least respectful of our freedoms and understand the valuable role churches play in the moral fabric and direction of our nation. Jesus, not the president, saves souls. Which candidate will keep the religious highway free and open for the church to win, teach, disciple, and train people as Christians and as His servants?

“Thank you, Lord, for having watched over the founding and maturing of this nation. We believe you have blessed the United States because our people acknowledged you as the giver of life and because we endeavored to conduct ourselves in the community of nations as a beacon of liberty, which ultimately flows from you. Help us, Lord, to not lose our way because of taking our eyes from you as our source of supply and presuming to believe our sociopolitical mechanisms will sustain us. Have mercy on us for our blind pride, for sinning against you. Help your people, O God, those who call upon and look to you, to serve as agents of your loving and saving grace through your son, Jesus.”
