American Street Preacher Arrested in London for "Homophobic Speech"

According to The Christian Post, London police arrested an American evangelist last week who was preaching on the street that people should abstain from sexual immorality—both heterosexual and homosexual. Tony Miano told police he was simply preaching on sexual sin and didn’t hate homosexuals, but the officers took Miano into custody for violating Public Order Act Section 5: “using homophobic speech that could cause people anxiety, distress, alarm or insult.”

Miano spent seven hours in jail, where he was interrogated and then released. Miano said they asked him many questions about his faith, including what portion of the Bible he was preaching from and “if a homosexual was hungry and walked up to him, would he give them something to eat.” A transcript of the interrogation is available on his website, crossencounters.us.
