Chattanooga, TN Called "Most Bible Minded City" in the Nation; Providence, RI Called "Least"

The American Bible Society and the Barna Group teamed up to evaluate the American cities that most embrace the Bible. Chattanooga, Tenn., ranks No. 1, according to American Bible Society’s study, America’s Most Bible-Minded Cities. Knoxville, Tenn., claimed last year’s top spot. The Midwest and South regions of the nation continue to perform strongly; the first ten highest ranked cities included Chattanooga, Birmingham, Ala; Charlotte, NC., Little Rock, Ark., Jackson, Miss., and Knoxville. Cities on the East Coast ranked “least Bible-minded” in the U.S.; the last ten cities in the list included Buffalo, NY., Providence, RI., Boston, Mass., and Hartford, Conn. Cities near the 50th percentile included Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus, Ohio; Detroit, Mich. and Albuquerque, New Mex.

A “Bible-minded” city was defined as one in which respondents to a survey agreed strongly that the Bible is accurate in all it teaches and reported reading the Bible at least once within the past seven days. Find out where your city/region ranks by clicking here.
