Bishop Dies of Apparent Heart Attack While Confessing Sin to the Church

A Connecticut bishop died in front of his congregation Sunday after his family reportedly publicly confronted him about a past act of infidelity that his wife of 50 years, Christine, pushed him to confess. Media reports including from The Christian Post say that Bishop Bobby Davis of Miracle Faith World Outreach Church confessed an act of adultery from his past in front of his congregation last Sunday, asking for their forgiveness, and then suffered the attack amid shouts of “We forgive you, we love you” from the audience. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly afterward.

There is some discrepancy in the report as to how the event actually occurred: Some witnesses say the wife called the members of the congregation together and told them of the infidelity, after which Davis entered the room and his wife demanded that he confess. A church member, who asked to remain nameless, said that the confession must have been very difficult for Davis since he was “a very black and white preacher.” The church member also said the whole scene was like “a bad reality TV show” and should have been handled privately.

After detectives interviewed dozens of people and reviewed the security video taken inside the church, local law enforcement does not suspect any criminal activity in this case. They would not confirm the cause of death but said it appeared to be a heart attack.
