People Matter

Brian launched a new series at West Ridge yesterday called Identity. It’s a vision series that will walk through our core values as a church. Here are some of the highlights from Brian’s first message, “People Matter”, that grabbed my attention:

  • “In God’s economy, people matter.”
  • “If you are going from Bible study to Bible study and you are not developing a deeper passion to reach lost people, then you are totally missing the point.”
  • “If you are serving hour after hour in the church and you are not developing a burden for people who are outside the walls of this church, then something is wrong.”
  • “God loves you, but it is time for you to start living your life with the reason he saved you for.”
  • “We have to get out of our holy huddles. We need to get out of our spiritual powwows. We need to start getting around people who need Jesus.”
  • “As much as God loves his children, he is much more interested in finding what is lost rather than pampering those who have been found.”
  • “People matter to God, and they have to matter to us as well.”
  • “One of the biggest reasons why lost people are so turned off by the church is because they see church people treating each other and those outside the church like trash.”
  • “If the vision of this church is going to be fully realized, then we have to be loving towards each other.”
  • “People outside these walls are watching to see if we are the real deal.”
  • “It is not about us.”
  • “He’s not going to get on mission with you. He’s going to train you. He’s going to develop you. He’s going to invest in you and provide those opportunities, so that you will get on mission with him. And when you do, you will be involved in changing the world.”
