You Think You Wanna Be Me (or Him or Her…)?

Very few people tell me they wanna be me, but, strangely, they tell my wife and tell those around me that they wish they had a relationship like we have, a church like we have, a family like we have, “success” like we have.

Hear my heart, I love my life, but you have no idea how much it cost me to get where I am today and how hard it is for me to actually just maintain my position, not to mention advancing it!

3 quick points:

1. To be me would require you to grow up without a father, get assaulted @ age 15, have a bunch of spinal surgeries, live in constant pain, have a brutal car accident, get fired from your previous church for having dreams, struggle sleeping at night because of all of the ideas in your head, deal with constant private and public criticism, and more.

2. Wanting to be someone else is almost like saying that God made a mistake with you. He didn’t.  You are not a mistake.  You may not be where you want to be, but trusting that God is able to use YOU is an essential first step in the right direction.

3. After the past 2 years in high capacity leadership, I have been around enough high capacity leaders to tell you right now that while their stories may not be just like mine, they too have paid a HUGE cost to get where they are and pay a huge cost daily to be in the position they currently serve in.
