It's Not a Short-Coming if it's a Specialty

In a start-up, you can’t offer everything people want. You’re going to let someone down. And when you do, they’re going to make you feel bad about it. So you can allow those deficiencies to be short-comings… or specialties.

For example, you can’t order a taco salad at Chipotle. Believe me, I’ve tried. If it’s not a burrito, a burrito bowl or tres tacos, you’re out of luck. But no one complains because they’ve changed people’s expectations by intentionally limiting their offerings to a few specialities. And we love it.

Look at your deficiencies. How can you turn those into an intentionally limited specialty?
