Curator vs. Committee

I don’t believe in creative genius by committee.

I believe in execution by committee.

But I believe in creative genius by “curator.”

Whenever I hire designers, I work really hard to find great ones… and then get out of their way. If I’m making tons of design changes, it means I hired the wrong person.

When I commission creative programming to a producer, I make sure the concept is right, but then I get out of their way. It forces me to be absolutely clear in communicating what I’m looking for. But it’s either whole… or nothing.

It keeps the artform pure. The result is better.

This could be just me, but I believe that how you cut the apples… the particular pressure you apply to each slice… makes the pie taste better. Committee is careless.
