How We Present ______.

I’m no salesman. If you know me at all, you know I would be terrible at sales. I’m usually not clear when I communicate in person and I’m probably “too nice” to be an effective salesman.

I don’t think the Gospel is something that should packaged and sold like something you can go find at a store. The reason? The Gospel is unlike anything you can find in a nice convenient format or any method of living that will ever be presented in the world. So the “sales” pitch is different.

The Gospel is most attractive to people when they see it lived out before them. I have a good friend who is a part of a church plant here in Charleston. Right now, he’s working at a restaurant downtown. Most of his co-workers are not believers. The other day we were talking about how to serve people who serve all day long. So he started cleaning their sections and doing work for them so they could leave earlier. That is a beautiful way of presenting the Gospel to people in a way they can see it clearly.  Someday when my buddy gets into a conversation with his co-workers about Christ, they may actually listen because they’ve seen it lived out in his day to day life.

This looks different for every person because we have different jobs, different friends and different daily circumstances. Being a faithful follower of Jesus urges us to look at our lives and see how we can present the Gospel in a loving way that meets people where they are and brings them a bit closer to knowing Christ. When we are the hands and feet of Christ, people are affected.

The lifestyle is the presentation and the message is preached from the manifestation of Truth in our lives. You may be able to sell a car on falsified data and deceptions, but you can’t preach the Gospel while living in opposition to its teachings.

As with all of my blogs, may I practice what I write.

Have a lovely Wednesday.
