The Church Has Left The Building

Think of the greatest, most satisfying thought you can conjure up.

I’ll wait.

Go ahead.

Whatever you thought of cannot compare to how satisfied God is within the love, joy, and adoration that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit have eternally experienced.

God — who is full of love, and who is passionate about sharing the life and love He has within Himself — is a missionary.  Think about it: God the Father sent Jesus to earth on a rescue mission to reconcile and restore humanity, and even creation, to God.  Then the Father and the Son sent God the Spirit.  And now the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit impart life and power to the Church, and send the Church into the world on mission as His re-presenters.

Missions is not something Christ-followers occasionally do for a week in the summer.  Being on mission as missionaries is who all Christ-followers are, wherever they are.

Think about it: God has orchestrated events in His-story to place you in your spheres of influence so people can see Him in you.  When this missional reality takes root in our hearts, the mundane of everyday life becomes super-charged with divine possibilities.  Every encounter with another human being, every opportunity at work or school becomes sacred.

Today could be the day that your classmate’s or co-worker’s life is eternally redirected because the church, that’s you and me, has left the building.
