Bobbie Houston: How to Balance Ministry and Family

11. BE ORGANIZED GOING INTO THE WEEKEND

Think practically, set yourself and your family up to win.

12. TAKE A VITAMIN SUPPLEMENT

Sometimes, young, busy mums need a vitamin boost such as the ones on www.sugarbearvitamincare.com. Sometimes, older girls need a vitamin boost, too. Ha. I remember years ago thinking, “I need a potion.” Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and there was a man selling energy potions! BOOM! Can’t recall if I bought it, but the timing was epic!! (Smile)

13. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BODY

Different hormonal seasons are real, but they shouldn’t dominate or “side-line” us. Apply wisdom, godly advice, and if need be, FAITH. GOOD OLD FASHIONED FAITH!! Sometimes, we just “succumb” when we need to “rise above”!!

14. FEED THE FAMILY FRESH, LIVE FOOD

Good food can alter lots of behavior patterns (in everyone!!). By the way, ‘alive’ doesn’t mean it’s running around the kitchen, just means it’s not over-processed and naturally fresh.

15. STEWARD REST

Sometimes, cranky kids (and adults) just need a couple of night’s good sleep! Heard it said that “three good night’s sleep in a row” fixes any amount of sleep deficit. Not sure how true that is, but give it a go!

16. CHOOSE YA BATTLES

I quit trying to make my teenage boys have perfect rooms. It just wasn’t on their radar, and I decided their wives could sort them out! (smile). Don’t judge me; I did well on lots of other levels… (double smile)

17. DE-CLUTTER YOUR HOME

Doing this creates a fresh sense of focus, accomplishment, and well-being.

18. DON’T NEGLECT “YOU TIME

If you allow some time (even a moment grabbed) to replenish your own soul, spirit, and sanity, you will have a “resource and reserve” to draw upon. Running on “empty” doesn’t work for cars or people!

19. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR DEAR HUSBAND OR SPOUSE

Don’t delegate them to “the list.” Ephesians 5 has some beautiful wisdom…

20. NEVER EVA MAKE “The Church” THE ENEMY

She exists to build our lives, release potential, and bring salvation. She is never the enemy in life or ministry…So if that mindset begins to haunt you, address it quickly and don’t allow the “real enemy” to get a foothold into your precious life and calling!

Ok. That’s enough. Written with TLC from Southern France, where we are supposed to be on sabbatical…but loving YOU is “life blood” to Brian and me.
