NASCAR Prayer Gets Viral Attention

The opening invocation at NASCAR’s July 23 Nationwide Federated Auto Parts 300 has gone viral on social networking platforms due to the unconventional prayer given by Pastor Joe Nelms of Family Baptist Church in Lebanon, Tennessee. Nelms’ prayer offered thanks to God for the Rauch and Yates partnership, GM, Sunoco racing fuel, Goodyear tires, and for his “smokin’ hot wife,” among other things. Nelms closed the prayer using a sign-off customarily used by NASCAR celebrity Darrell Waltrip. To view the prayer, click on the video below.
