Lose the Masks

You Are the Key

Right about now you’re probably thinking: Okay, so how do we go about achieving authenticity in our small group? What should we actually do?

Good questions. And the solution is relatively simple: you can generate authenticity in your small group by being authentic.

That’s it.

If you want others in your group to take off their masks, you need to take yours off first. If you want others to go deeper in group discussions and talk about their doubts and passions, then you need to talk about them first. If you want others to confess their sins and pray for each other, then you need to confess and seek prayer for your own sins first. That’s what it means to be a leader.

So go for it! Take off your mask, be authentic, and watch as others eventually follow your lead into a deeper, better community.
