4 Reasons Why You’re About to Give Up Your Small Group and Why You Won't

Ask any small group leader… They’ve probably thought about dumping their group at some point, but they don’t. There are some reasons small group leaders consider exiting the leadership pool. Check out these statements from small group leaders.

 1. I’ve trained the overly talkative person to speak appropriate amounts of time at the meetings but she catches me in the hallway after the worship gathering and talks so long I can’t get a good seat at any restaurant.

 2. Every time our group meets at this one guys house he captures me at leaving time and forces me to look at his stamp collection… again. It’s my fault. The first time he showed it to me I acted like I was interested. I no longer mail ANYTHING to his house.

 3. The last time I mediated a conflictual situation a fistfight broke out. I’m guessing conflict resolution isn’t one of my gifts?!

 4. Sometimes when I lead the Bible study my wife tells me, “We had a great conversation tonight. Thank you for letting the rest of us agree with you.”

But we won’t stop leading our groups. Why? We love these messed up people. We love them because they love us in spite of all of our weaknesses and let’s face it, we’re as messed up and beautiful as they are.
