The Un-Talked About Pain of a Pastor: Recovering From Burnout

There may be no more isolating vocation like that of pastor in the world. Elders and congregants look at you with eyes of expectation—can you be the father/mother I never had, the friend I desperately long for, the leader we always wanted, the counselor that can save me, the hero for growing our church, the mind-blowing communicator that holds my attention, the politician that I agree with. We cannot live up to these expectations, even though people are paying us to.

Healing on the Horizon

Is it possible to find healing? This is the search my wife and have been on for the last 5 years. This is why we launched a full-court press on this issue with partners across the country. A groundswell of support has helped give birth to The Kineo Center to constructively offer healing amidst a hard calling. Together we sought to create a circle of support and pathway that is extremely in tune to the pastor’s journey:

Option 1: A 24-week pathway that walks through strategic areas of weariness and woundedness in a peer-to-peer structure of 6 to 8. With deep understanding, a coach will unpack the particular pains you’ve experienced. A thoughtfully crafted curriculum written by our team of therapists, coaches, and veteran pastors guides our pace. The 23 weeks crescendo with a closing retreat in Puerto Rico. (We offer a $500 off discount for active ministry leaders). Sign Up Here: thekineocenter.com/cohort

Option 2: A 1-week experience that begins with embracing the silence and seclusion between the mountain and the Caribbean Sea in Naguabo, Puerto Rico. Four Development Sessions are provided to help you excavate your pains and the possibilities of renewal. Enjoy an afternoon dip in the pool, go for a hike in our rainforest, take a trip to local sandy beaches, or sip on fresh ground coffee. We offer a special ministry discount for those who apply. Is healing from burnout possible? Yes, out of winter comes spring. Out of compost comes rich soil. Out of death comes resurrection. This is the path Christ took and is inviting every pastor to plummet into. Join us for the renewal journey!
