5 Ways to Keep Professionalism From Ruining Worship

If we truly believe that our job is to reach people on their own cultural turf, we’re going to have to do a far better job of training our leaders to accomplish this!

I can name many churches that have worked extremely hard at keeping current and hip, utilizing the giftedness of their leaders to accomplish a good result, but I can name thousands of churches where treacle-ish worship fails miserably.

[Not meaning to be cruel, watch this.]

Shut it down instead of whipping it up!

If we believe that our job is to build into every service a great crescendo, we are ultimately doomed to fail. Why? The human spirit needs rest, and our church services are sometimes so rapid fire that we don’t allow people to settle in, slow down and, most particularly, find God. I hated writing that just now, but it probably needs to be said.
