To Connect with Audiences, "Events" Matter

What’s the big thing right now in movies? Tent poles. Epics. Big Budget extravaganzas. “Event” films. Likewise, live “events” are a big deal as well. Look at the Catalyst Conference, A Night of Hope with Joel Osteen, Get Motivated, and others. Big deals. In publishing, everyone’s looking for the next big thing. Software companies make events out of upgrades. So why are event’s all the rage?

Because they cut through the clutter we experience every day. In a world where researchers tell us we’re being bombarded with as many as 5,000 media messages per day, where TV’s in the average home are on for more than 8 hours a day, and where Facebook and Twitter are taking more of a bite out of our day, big events matter more than ever.

So what does that mean for you? Stop doing the mundane. No more “workshops” or “seminars.” Put your money on the big roll of the dice. Make it huge. Go big or go home.

Events cut through. They get noticed. They get attention. They get your message heard.
