More About What Do Mormons Believe
4. Mormonism’s Non-Christian Beliefs
Christian apologists provide helpful lists of Mormonism’s false teachings. This website details why the LDS church is a non-Christian cult. For example, Mormons teach that God was once a man on another planet. They also teach works-righteousness, rather than salvation by grace through faith alone.
5. Reaching Out to Mormons
If your teens want to be equipped to witness to non-Christians such as Mormons, then dive deeper into evangelism strategies. Remind them to do so with love and respect. After all, confrontational approaches are sure to backfire.
As Russell Moore notes, sharing Jesus with Mormons doesn’t necessarily require “proof-text argumentation.” Instead, he says, it involves “presenting the big picture of Scripture, tying it together in the pinnacle of all truth, Jesus of Nazareth.”
6. Mormons Are Not Christians
Finally, reiterate that the LDS church is not Christian. Because their leaders and evangelists portray the faith that way, kids must learn the whole picture. So prepare students with facts—about other faiths as well as their own. When young people stand firm in their beliefs, they won’t be easily swayed. Plus, they can witness to others who’ve been led astray.
