Are You Limiting Your Kids?

Samuel woke up and ran to Eli.

What do you want Eli?”

“I didn’t call you Samuel. Go back to bed” Eli replied.

This happened two more times.

After the third time the Holy Spirit spoke, Eli said,

“Hey maybe God is speaking to you.

“Go back to bed. If you hear his voice again say, speak Lord, your servant hears.”

Samuel went back to bed and the Holy Spirit spoke to him and gave him a prophecy that impacted the entire nation of Israel.

I find it interesting that God had to speak four times before young Samuel received the prophecy.

This tells me that something changed between the Lord’s third attempt and the fourth time God spoke—that helped Samuel receive the prophecy.

What changed was Samuel’s Teacher.

When Eli changed what he believed about Samuel and took some time to teach Samuel about how to respond to the voice of the Holy Spirit, he was able to receive the prophecy.

What about you?

Are you limiting your kids like Eli was limiting Samuel?

Do you need to change?

Change what you are thinking and believing about the kids that you teach.

Are you teaching your kids about the Holy Spirit?

If not, you can start today.

Ask the Holy Spirit to give you a vision for the kids that you teach. See them the way that the Lord sees them.

We hear this a lot: “Kids don’t have a junior Holy Spirit”

It’s time to let that statement be a priority in our kids’ programs.

What are you waiting for?

Get started today.

P.S. I’ve got some great news, I’ve created a 12-week series on the Holy Spirit.

Here’s a short preview of some of the lessons you’ll teach:

Lesson 1: The Holy Spirit in Me – 1 Corinthians 6:19
Lesson 2: Does God Speak to Kids – Romans 8:16
Lesson 3: The Inward Voice – Romans 8:14
Lesson 4: Filled With the Holy Spirit – Acts 2:4
Lesson 5: The Gift of Tongues – 1 Corinthians 14:14
